Got a new C-860, so out goes the 5600 AND the new 6000L ! Options

Got a new C-860 from e-bay today, and it's actually remarkably well converted already. All menus in HancomWord, Presentation and HancomSheet are already translated. Calendar, AddressBook(with two exceptions under category, and the documented sorting problems), ToDo(two category problems), and pretty much else are all working correctly. Network Wizard is the infamous "squares" but he'd already set up one profile (generic) and it works fine with my D-Link DCF-660W, but if somebody can tell me how to fix the translation problems in the wizard, it would be most helpful.
Already installed were "bunkoviewer", "msconvert", "personal-profile-for-zaurus", "sst-signup", translator-ej-data, translator-je-data, and "yubindata". Anybody know (for sure) that it's safe to uinstall any of these ? Or what the heck they are ?
A bunch of seemingly cool stuff, including qpdf came on the installation CD, along with all the necessary drivers and such like. Anybody know if I can synch this thing using the SL-6000L software I already have installed ?

All of you who said that this clamshell really rocks are oh so right. No picture I've seen does adequate justice to the screen, the keyboard, or the general "build quality" of this little guy. Really amazing, so the 6000L's headed back to Amazon. !

I did a NAND backup, I did a NAND backup ! :-)
And quite frankly, I owe the fact that I was able to do that to all the GREAT folks out here ! Thank you so much for making a newbee feel at home !

Plusss, I've got it synching through the USB cable, works great with Outlook 2003 (except for the much covered "sorting" issue). Minor point for me. And again, I learned how to do it out here !

I agree about the clamshell having tested the 5500, but am very happy with the 750, stock sharp rom too.

I would like to flash it with other roms to try out but am seriously worried it might screw up the z and it would be unusable or I couldnt restore back to original sharp install.

Waiting for courage to do it ...

bunkoviewer - a Japanese ebook reader - uses a format only available from Sharp AFAIK
personal-profile-for-zaurus - java for Z
sst-signup - signup software for Sharp's Japanese software download service
translator-*-data - data used by the translator software for translating English to Japanes and vice-versa
yubindata - Japanese postcode/address data

You can probably get rid of most of them if you don't speak/read Japanese or ain't learning it.

P.S. The C860 has the exact same hardware as the C760 so most roms for the C760 SHOULD work on the C860.

I'm trying to decide whether to get a 6000L or a C860. What is your perspective on the pros/cons of the 6000 vs 860?

Since I've had them both I can say that, for me, the clamshell is definitely the superior device. Really easy to use, much better keyboard, brighter screen, and no real problems with the English conversion. It's smaller than the 6000 (which is freakin' HUGE) and uses readily available batteries and the external battery charger. And yes, I really did send my 6000 back to Amazon once I got the 860 ! Enjoy !

Thanks yodabob. I'm leaning (heavily) toward the 860. If the 6000W were available, it might be a more difficult choice as both built-in wireless apps would make the 6000 much more attractive. I do like the size of the 860 - the 6000 to me does look too long to be as portable as the clamshell devices. And the clamshell keyboard is a huge plus. Did the USB connection work with the 6000 - I've read about sync problems, related to USB?

Is there any side-to-side photograph of the SL6000 and the CL860? If the SL6000 is really so much larger than the C860, I'd be more inclined to get a C860...

mls64. I synch every day with Outlook 2003 (everything except e-mail) and it works great. Just make sure you follow the instructions that are out here for setting it up initially, no big deal.

I wish the C860 were available for a lower price - just checked Amazon's Japan site, and with the current exchange rate (USD to Yen) it is selling for US$598!!
But, they won't let USA buyers purchase.
