Am in the market for a new mobile handset. Am interested in Linux powered handsets. Can you name the Linux powered handsets for me?

There's the Neo1973/OpenMoko platform. Like the iPhone, but better and Linux-powered.

The Mylo is not a phone. It has skype which you can use when connected to a wifi network but it is not a mobile (cellular) telephone in the usual sense.

QUOTE(odo @ Aug 18 2007, 03:30 PM) Am in the market for a new mobile handset. Am interested in Linux powered handsets. Can you name the Linux powered handsets for me? Do you just need a "Linux inside" but you won't recognize? Then, approx. 30% of the Motorola phones are built using Linux. Making a list is quite useless since you sometimes don't even know or see. If you search for phones where you can access the Linux kernel, build you own software etc., then threre isn't much (yet): * OpenMoko/Neo1973 (already mentioned) * Trolltech Greenphone * HTC devices where a Linux system was developed by the Xanadux project (www.xanadux.org) * Zaurus with GPRS-CF card (well, that is not a Phone) -- hns |

ROAD - http://road.de/ - though I think their product is still somewhat vapourware
iPhone - ok, it's OSX, i.e BSD, but close to linux than (spit) pocketPC |
