Okay with all the new rom developments lately I've been flashing back and forth between three different ones. I think just this weekend I've flashed my Z anout four times. The question is, how many flashes do we get before we start wearing out the flash memory??

tens of thousands, I think. what is the number of writes standard for flash mem?

I've heard anywhere between 10,000 to 100,000 that's a big range. Just wondering.

You can neglect the low figure in calculus problems. 8) The question is, will you (or the device. more to the point) live long enough to go through even 10K write cycles? Remember too that regular flash is supposed to degrade gracefully in the face of errors, mapping out bad blocks on the fly. So even if a particular memory location gets written to a lot, it's unlikely the flash as a whole will be significantly degraded over a very long period. I've heard 100K plus for certain types of flash. I don't know if this particular memory is any different. |
