The Night Watch, a humor column by James Mickens on the horrors of system programming, well worth reading:

"What is despair? I have known itóhear my song. Despair is when youíre debugging a kernel driver and you look at a memory dump and you see that a pointer has a value of 7. THERE IS NO HARDWARE ARCHITECTURE THAT IS ALIGNED ON 7. Furthermore, 7 IS TOO SMALL AND ONLY EVIL CODE WOULD TRY TO ACCESS SMALL NUMBER MEMORY. "

Kkimigawa has created a new GitHub repository with a Dockerfile, plus the related Qtopia packages, which can be used under Docker to crosscompile software for Sharp ROM/Cacko using a modern Linux/Windows system:

(Google translation in English: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=a...&edit-text= )

Docker is a software which "provides an additional layer of abstraction and automation of operating-system-level virtualization on Windows and Linux." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docker_(software)

Moreover, the author has released two ports done with this crosscompiler, and more are expected to follow:

On Grant Sinclair's website (his surname will be familiar to some of you - he's the nephew of Clive Sinclair, the inventor of the ZX Spectrum/Timex home computers), a new handheld is available for preorder, the POCO Zero:

It's a compact handheld with a touchscreen, two analog joysticks and buttons, though no physical keyboard. It is based on the Raspberry Pi Zero, and in true Sinclair fashion it is available both as a self-assembly kit and a fully-assembled unit. According to the website, it will be available in a couple of months (Q3 2017).

I have done a small tweak to the forum's configuration and raised the thumbnails' size of any attached picture from 100x100 to 400x400, see an example here:

This will only affect all the attached images starting from today. Let me know if this new size works for you.

An interview with 0x4015 has been published on the "Voice of 6 Octaves" blog. 0x4015 is a Japanese democoder who has won the 4K PC intro competition at the Revision demo party this spring, with his Final Stage intro. "This created a buzz among Japanese people in the community, because this was the first time that Japanese demoscener had won at Revision, the largest demoscene party held on this planet." He uses an SL-C1000 to code his 4k demos, including Final Stage. "Iím using this to code 4K intro in a commuter train. With this machine, I can code even if the train is fully packed", says 0x4015.
