Hi all, I was thinkign of getting the c1000. When I look at PriceJapan and fill in all of my shipping and payment option I get back a "quote". I take it this quote IS the price that I would be charged, and not just an estimate?

I know, it is a bit ambiguous when the page says "roughly calculated price quote" but that is how it worked for me. They are very good at responding to emails so if in doubt ask them direct.
Also they like payment by Moneybookers - which is a good thing in my view. |

Don't be hard on them - their English is not perfect, but they provide a good service at the great price level.

I agree... I got my C1000 from pricejapan without any problems, with a great price, and extremely quickly. I'd recommend them anyday.

The only thing I did not like about PriceJapan is that they put a lower value in the invoice so you do not have to pay import tax. It is a nice gesture, but since it is under $1000 anyway, this trickery is not really needed. I had to pay import tax on my C3000 (which I imported via a friend) because it was 60 cents above the free treshold
But the C3100 I bought from PriceJapan was much cheaper than that so I would not had to pay tax for it anyway even if they had put the correct price on the invoice. Now the other issue is, I cannot claim the full amount on my tax returns because the invoice shows this little amount instead of the real value So my advice would be to ask them to put the correct amount in the tax invoice. |

I think all depends on the country. I am in Canada, and I really appreciated the low value indicated by PriceJapan on my C3100 ( the Z was declared as Electronic Translator). We have to pay here sales taxes on everything ( no import duties on such items ) . Taxes are 15% of the total. So the lower the value, the less taxes to be paid... As a result I always prefer a low value... |

First I wanted to order my C1000 from pricejapan.com but when I counted price + VAT + TAX + shipping + CreditCard cost, I counted almost exact price like offered pulster.de where because of EU I didn't pay anything more except shipping and bank transfer fee and pulster and offers me 2 years warranty. So I bought there. I think that in case of C3100 comparing prices (pricejapan and pulster) is not as good as in case C1000 :-)). For example of C1000 at trisoft.de is 110 Eur more expensive. OK I bought USBhost cable from iriver for 7,5 Eur so let's say 100 Eur. |

Also, I have used a cheaper shipping option for the C3100 ( the standard suggested shipping is USD 40 - I have paid USD 20 after requesting by email the cheaper and slower option). So the price difference (between PriceJapan and anybody else) for me was very significant |

They increase price of Zaurus if you pay anything except bank transfer (bank transfer fees are payed by you) |

So there was no fee to be paid. |

Merli.
QUOTE(merli @ Oct 20 2005, 02:47 PM) ... lots of price talking ... For example of C1000 at trisoft.de is 110 Eur more expensive. OK I bought USBhost cable from iriver for 7,5 Eur so let's say 100 Eur. Compared to "the other one", you would've also found an EA-70S in our box that's additional 50,-- EUR worth (and is allowed to be used in Europe). Besides from some other hard- and software goodies, our Zauris are conform to all european regulations which is very cost intensive. If you compare our prices with other european professional sources like xtops.de, handheld-linux.com, figlabs.com etc., you'll notice that we're all in the same price range. ///TRIsoft Marc Stephan |
