Anyone know where there are some wireless spots in the city?
I know that in the States, T-Mobile has deals with several large chains offering (for a fee) wifi access. Sharp had a deal with them to give Zaurus owners 300 free minutes of the service. I checked their website and couldn't find mention of anything in Canada however. In the Star this morning there was an article about wifi trials starting soon on GO Trains. This is a neat idea. The article also mentioned that Union Station has a Bell sponsered wireless point. It sure would be cool if TTC went wireless. |

Yes, I heard something about Union station hot spot some time ago, have not verified it yet though. Wireless TTC would be the coolest thing ever! I mean, aditionally to the stations, imagine the network inside the subway wagons/Go Trains...too cool to happen I guess, at least, not anytime soon...Some time ago I thought of TTC putting GPS units on their buses/streetcars and sending the location to some wireless provider. This way you could get the exact location and estimated time for the unit to get to your TTC stop...I made some research and someone told me the TTC guys would not make the investment...why? or, better.. would it be true? At least for winter it is a good idea...

" Microcell Telecommunications, Rogers Wireless, Telus
Mobility and Bell Mobility are expected to announce as early as today an agreement to work together on common standards that would let their respective customers roam between public Wi-Fi networks, as well as between existing cellphone and Wi-Fi networks. " Read the full story here |

I've seen that nakedwireless.ca site before, but unfortunately it doesn't cover far enough north to hit my area. I'm just north of Bloor street. From a few warwalks I've done though, I've discovered all sorts of wireless access points up here.
Does anyone here have a GPS unit they use with their Z? I'd love to get my hands on one to map out some of the more northern areas here... Or even recommendations on a cheap one that'll work with the Z... |

Interesting. I knew there had to be some company jumping on wifi in the downtown core, and here they are. I looked over the site and couldn't find any pricing information however. Didn't want to create an account just to get this information. Thanks for the link though!
