I'm running OZ/Opie on my 3100 (spitz), and I'd like to use it as an mp3 player as I did when I used the Sharp ROM. MP3 playback works, but the volume is adjustable, it seems, only through the commandline 'alsamixer'. Coredump told me on IRC that the graphical mixers don't work with ALSA currently, and will be updated at somepoint, later. Until then, is there anyway to map the little wheel to amixer commands that would increase and decrease my PCM mixer? How would I do this? Or, is there any other alternatives? Thanks!

You might be interested in some of the documentation here: http://wiki.openzaurus.org/Hints#Hints_And_Tips
The stuff I added is in the second subsection: "More GPE keymap changes" In your case substitute amixer commands for mpc stuff that I have there (if you're not using mpd/ncmpc/glurp/mpc). Good luck and if you get that working with amixer post up the commands that you used so that others can benefit. Better yet add it to the wiki. |

Aha! Exactly what I wanted. Thanks a lot!
I did in fact write a small ruby script to increase and decrease the volume of the mixer directly, and have, as suggested, added it to the wiki. |
