Just got a C860. Do I need a power converter for it, since it came from Japan and I'm in the US? Thanks.

Dave,
Short answer no. I have used mine for a few months with the supplied power adapter with no problems. The rating is close enough. Plus, you would have a heck of a time finding another adapter that tiny. I have had a number of Japanese machines with similar power adapters and have never had a problem or had a power adapter die. Enjoy. |

FWIW, http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/tips/Zaurus_...accessories.htm mentions a world adapter (100-240 V), which seems to be about as small as the native one. Not too cheap though.

I am using my old adaptor for the SL5*00 with the C860 (in the US) without any problems. The old adaptor is bigger but has a smaller wall plug so it fits better in a crowded power strip. I plan to use the new adaptor when travelling within the US. I guess for international travel, I'll need to use the old adaptor.

If you can get access to a PC-USB port while over there, an alternate solution to charge the zaurus is the USB power cable. This is a nice solution as you don't need to carry the power supply (but onlya USB like cable), charging is somewhat longer than with power adaptor. (see http://cc-sakura.dip.jp/eldar-star/doc/usbpow.htm )
