Hi all,

It seems that I as well have run into trouble...
My beloved C3000 will not boot anymore, and is giving me the initialize hdd error message. I followed the "Howto restore from scratch page" which I luckily found back in the dark archives of the www (thanks to someone else here).
However, I think when it comes to copying the files to the hdd1 partition I'm missing the point.
I found the SLC3000SYSPART.zip from Trisoft, but the instructions are not clear enough for me I'm afraid. Following the Howto, I would need to have a hdd1.tar.gz, so I happily gzipped the hdd1.tar from Trisoft, but this does not seem to work.
As I'm quite new in Linux, could someone point me in the right direction, and give some better instructions?
I would be very greatful!

I hope you guys don't shoot me for eventually posting at the wrong forum/or for starting a thread where I should have followed up an old one.....

Thanks again,

Annemarie

Firstly I'd like to apologize for posting in the wrong forum. I was quite tired after two nights of trying to restaure the Zaurus....
Maybe someone can move this thread for me?

However, problem has been solved so far by installing Cacko1.23beta1.
As I'm leaving on holidays I'm quite relieved, but I might the answer on the above some days.... So I still hope someone can help me out.....

Thanks,

Annemarie

did you try renaming the hdd1.tar file from trisoft to hdd1.tar.gz (without re-gzipping it, just renaming) ?
Else I'll try to get my hand on my own hdd1 backup or make you a new one wink.gif (try PMing me to ask if I don't answer here)

That would be nice ThC, I tried so much that I don't remember anymore what I did and what I didn't.... The size of the .tar was something about 48 Meg. I remember to have read that the tar.gz should be something of 19.

I'll be out of web for the next 4 weeks (probably, it could be that I'll get desperate again of course and return here beforehand wink.gif ).

I'm running Cacko now, but it seems not quite stable when running qpegps with a cf GPS.

CU,
Annemarie
