Just for fun, since Amazon has started advertising the 6000L for $699, I did a quick back-of-the envelope calculation to see what the other models will cost.
One Japanese site advertises the following prices (in Yen) 6000N: 68,500 6000L: 75,300 6000W:79,800 Assuming $699 for the 6000L, and that the ratios are the same in the US, I calculate $740 for the 6000W and $635 for the 6000N. (The same calculation also reveals the C860 should cost $598 for a US version. Grrr...) |

Having a special taste for digital devices was never cheap.....if you live in the US. It won't get cheaper if you live in Europe.....

Dunno about that, 2 dollars to the pound is always good, and I'm up for a holiday

One question? Now that the 6000 is sorta out in the US. When is the new US Sharp Zaurus site going to go up? http://www.myzaurus.com/

QUOTE I dont know if sharp is even planning on marketing this in/towards the us... Well they have it on Amazon and PC Connection so it is in the US.... The question is are they going to shut out the developer community or not. |

I'm assuming the Zaurus website will update on the day of the official launch of the Zaurus SL-6000. Amazon and PC Connection have preorders but the official release date of the handheld is March 31 according to Amazon. I am thinking (ie. this is most likely not true so don't start rumors) that Sharp will debut a whole new developer site alongside the launch of the SL-6000. It would make sense. *shrug*

It would make sense. *shrug* Most semi-intelligent companies like to get developers on board before a product is released, not after. I have called and emailed Sharp numerous times to try and find out if it is possible to get an early version of the 6000, or have someone at Sharp try my software on a 6000, or to try and get some developer information. Sharp true to form, are totally unresponsive. Regards, Clive |
