I've just got myself a brand new Sl-5500. I'm just getting into Linux so, it seemed like a good idea to get the Zaurus. I'm also a Windows (l)user and I was wondering what software is out there for me. My needs are:

Sync with Microsoft Money
Sync mail with Outlook
View photos
Do sms to my phone hopefully with bluetooth
Pick up mail using my phone (Sony Ericsson T610 and R520M).
Occasionally surf when away from home
Usual diary and contacts stuff
Viewing documents and procedures - pdf's, Word files, Excel spreadsheets etc.
Play media files - video, mp3 etc.

TIA.

Hello,

You are in luck. The Z out the box should do what you want. I am not sure about Money. The stock Sharp ROM does most of those things. I would start there.

If in the future you want to get adventursome then one of the other ROMs offer both features and limitations. I pernonally am trying to sort my way through OZ-Opie. This combo is in a transition to a new release and may not be the easiest place to start. However it and others are exciting and have promise.

Dan

Do you know what ROM came with your brand new 5500? If it is the older 2.38, you might want to upgrade to 3.10 or 3.13. The tkcrom is good, but I think there might be a cacko rom recently created for the 5500. The easiest way to find if you need to upgrade the rom is the option to change the background to a picture of your choice.
