WiFiFoFum Options

Is there any software available for the zaurus that acts like the radar section of the software at this site: http://www.wififofum.org/
I know kismet works nice for listing things about wireless networks, I was just wondering if there was something more graphical like the software for Pocket PC 2003.

I can just about understand the ranges being displayed (but it's prone to quite a bit of error I'd bet), but how can he do the bearings? (unless he has a directional receiver that is).

That's the rub, isn't it? I've seen a couple of other apps with similar displays, but basically, the "range" is inversely proportional to signal strength, and the "bearing" is pure fiction.

Dr. Wily, I think that Kismet will provide just as much real, useable data as this thing does.

I guess that if you had gpsd running in the background, you could perform an analysis which would give you a rough bearing (looking at your direction and how the signal strength varies as you move).

I can't be bothered to try it myself.

They say on the site that it's not a bearing but a relative range by signal strength. I'd be all into learning how to program if I could make something neat like that for Kismet. I would want mine to more look like a line graph where it's signal strength against time where the line indicates an open AP (custimizable of course.) It would look something like this but flow nice like the Wireless Applet on opie.

Probably best to talk to Mickeyl about this then. I know nothing about how to get low level info out of the WiFi drivers, but I'm sure he does ;-).
