I am going to buy a C3100 in a few days but I have no idea of what Wi-Fi CF buy.
I have read the "Wireless Card Support" on this forum but I don't know what "Standby/rx/tx ma" means  If somebody can tell me the best CF that supports Managed mode, Ad-hoc mode and/or WEP, and RF Monitor mode (kismet) (this last too important) he will help me a lot. If it works with all the roms better. I don't know if this CF wil exist xD Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure those are current draws when idle, transmitting and receiving. It gives you an idea who will eat up your battery life more.
I have the socket which is decent for battery life, and has a low profile so it is less noticeable when typing. I'm not sure how it does with kismet, but there is some extra voodoo (software reset the card) that is needed to keep the card from locking onto a single channel when scanning with wellenreiter. I also had the old netgear which was extremely compatible, but was notorious for breaking apart. |

We havent had any bad response from the D-Link 660w either they seem to do very well here as well as in Germany.

How about Planex GW-CF11X?? I have found it cheap. It works well?
Wi-Fi CF 802.11g don't work with Z? |

bluedevils is correct. Tx = transmit, Rx = recieve.
I'm tempted by the Socket WiFi card for it's low profile, but now I am not sure if I want to deal with the "extra voodoo" mentioned Be nice if a WiFi card existed that was as compact as Socket's Bluetooth card

The Sandisk Connect+ and Planex GW-CF11X both take a bit of mucking about to get to work, but they do work in pdaxrom. Hostap and (for the Planex card), doing some firmware junk is needed. There's a post somewhere about it.

Hi,
I tried the AmbiCom Wave2Net 54 Mbp yesterday at CompUSA. Of course it did not work, as expected. But getting that card running would be great. It's not only fast, but the card is smaller than my D-Link (that for some strange reason stopped operating recently), in particular it is slightly thinner at the antenna AND it is available for 60 bucks right around the corner! Please, help, that card would be great! |

My DLink DCF-660W also stopped responding in my 5500. It lights up and appears to attempt to connect but then nothing. I am trying to connect to a Linksys router. Not sure if there is a setting problem or what but lost patience with it. I ordered a SanDisk WI-FI 128MB Card (CF Wireless B & 128 Memory & PCMCIA Adapter all in one package for $35. incl. shipping) Will sell the 660W to someone who wants to try it. Sure hope someone is able to get the AmbiCom working with the C1000/3000/3100! doc |
