Ooohh!
I was only asking about this yesterday but I only just reflashed pdaXii13 on Sunday too so I'm a bit reluctant to get back into 'danboid the OS guinea pig' mode right now. Anyone tried any of the latest X11 Spitz images yet? |

QUOTE(jerrybme @ Mar 7 2007, 08:03 PM) By chance I have been filing that bug. Workaround is a bit tricky as you will have to disable the zaurusd from looking at the right input event source. Open a console (which must be done by keyboard or via network if the touchscreen does not work). Go to /etc/zaurusd and look for the mach-config-vars file. Change the TSKEYS_CONF entry to /dev/input/event0 or whatever but not to event1 Save and reboot. This will prevent TSKEYS to lock the input event device which will cause the soft buttons on the right of the screen to stop working properly but at least the touch screen will be functional again. Alternatively, build your own tslib package with OpenEmbedded by removing the input patch from the bb file. Oliver |

Oliver another quickfix which worked for me: ------ Comment #5 From Ryan Bloomfield 2007-03-07 11:42:03 [reply] ------- The second line in the /etc/ts.conf file can be modified as a quick fix: modules_raw input grab_events=1 ------------ modules_raw input grab_events=0 i don't know what is the best but at least the quickfix seems to work!!! now i can go further |

No offense, but it seems like everytime there is a new build of OZ or in this case Angstrom, something fundamental is broken. How is this so?
It's like having mouse/keyboard support broken whenever you try a new version of windows. Ok, that does not happen, but you get the idea. |

I see your point and totally understand where you are coming, but to be fair it was in the unstable folder.

I have as much hope for oz oe openmoko as anyone. but; to be fair; there hasn"t been anything in "stable" in what...4 years?. It is all experimental (except hopefully openmoko). which is ok-- it drives development, keeps the devs happy; is free; etc. but saying it was unstable is pretty much the same as saying it was OZ.
now; the important suff-- tell us about the kernel--speed? compatibility? any other bits of interest? resource alloction? gui stuff? software ? |

Could you tell me which files you used in the spitz folder to install this build? I looked in the Angstrom wiki and I could only find Akita install instructions. Using the OZ Spitz install guide as a reference I see that I need: updater.sh.spitz zImage-2.6.20-spitz-20070306150353.bin gnu-tar after that I get confused. OZ says to grab a rootfs.tar.gz file. Well, the Angstrom spitz folder has four choices for that so, which one is it? I think the fun GUI stuff will be in the X11 images. Is that right? If it is then we are down to two different files so, is it: x11-image-spitz.tar.gz or Angstrom-x11-image-test-20070306-spitz.rootfs.tar.gz Finally, do you know what the Angstrom-x11-image-test-20070306-spitz.rootfs.jffs2 and Angstrom-x11-image-test-20070306-spitz.rootfs.ext2 are for? Are they just same as the .tar.gz file only encapsalted differently? Thanks for your help. |

I can think of a whole stack of things that work under pdaX that didn't work under OZ- is this test release of Angstrom any different? Here's a list of features I'm hoping for in Angstrom- I'd be grateful if someone who's already installed could tell me which ones are in already and which I'll have to wait for:
* GUI card manager - for turning off wifi and ejecting cards * Working MP3/OGG player. Does XMMS work in double size mode now or is there another good player that works? * Accelerated mplayer which can play movies @ 320x240 at 25/30fps as well as 640x480 best it can - this should be in now from what I've read * Support for over/under clocking via a GUI tool * Working, graphical package manager * 'USB Settings' style app to choose what the USB link does (Internal MD, SD or CF link up) * Support for timezones/locales other than Berlin * A working UK (and other locations) keymap - can I do a £ sign on the internal keyboard like under cacko (Fn+P)? * Keymap selector and working keymaps for USB keyboards (didn't get to check for this last time I tried) * Screen blanking applet (I can't remember if GPE had one in 2.7 as I never got a music player working well enough to have a need for this) When all those fundamental features are working then I'll be wanting a bunch of apps added to the Angstrom repositories, which of course I'll try to do myself if nobody else wants them. They are Ted Streamtuner Chibitracker (I think Micky has already wrote the bb scripts for this?) SpiralSynthModular amule goobox Jokosher, qtractor or Traverso We know that the Z is capable of recording uncompressed 16-bit wav files as we've seen this with KHdRecord but I'm wondering if it will be able to handle very basic multitrack recording under Jokosher, qtractor or Traverso? If its got enough umph to playback a mono 16-bit wav file and record another over the top of that I'll be a very happy man! I've not got to try this yet as those apps require ALSA and hence a 2.6 kernel. |

little howto so far:
1) go http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unsta...20070306/spitz/ 2) get and rename : Angstrom-x11-image-test-20070306-spitz.rootfs.tar.gz -> hdimage1.tgz gnu-tar updater.sh.spitz -> update.sh zImage-2.6.20-spitz-20070306150353.bin -> zImage.bin 3) flash as usual 4) openmoko will boot, enter user, calibrate 5) open a terminal window, use the keyboard for that 5) modify the lines in the /etc/ts.conf file : modules_raw input grab_events=1 -> modules_raw input grab_events=0 |
