for those who don't know, the good people at OpenZaurus have released OZ 3.3.5-rc1...
it is available at: http://www.openzaurus.org/official/testing I would like at least one other c760 user to confirm that it DOESN'T work (cuz it isn't working for me, and from what i understand, none of the primary OZ devs own a 760, so...) for me, when i flash the zimage.bin and initrd.bin ... itll reboot with the openzaurus logo along the top, but it's just a blinking cursor after that...it doesn't move on to configuring the packages like it usually should on the first run... if someone else could confirm this for the 760, id appreciate it alot ... for now ill play with the cacko x11 ROM |

it seems that the flash went well.... after it flashed, it rebooted then it installed about 150 packages, after that it shows the sharp screen with "openzaurus login:" at the bottom... I can login as root with no pass, and get to bash, but nothing from there... hmmm

my bad... I wansn't followng OZ standard... I didn't have the files named correctly (initrd.bin, zImage.bin, updater.sh).
It's flashed now, and the only thing I can say is HOLY SHIT, this is beautiful! |

So...uhmn...which image should be installed? There are about 5 different options: Collie, Corgi, husky, poodle, and shepherd.

from what I hear, husky = 760, shepherd = 750. I installed the husky one... it's not very stable though... I'm actually flashing back to cacko 1.17 now

personally, I don't think it's worth it yet... which is a bummer because it's beautiful! I should have taken a couple screenshots before I flashed back...
I had problems with it suspending and resuming, and the package mgr app didn't work... I'm looking forward to it when it's a bit more finalized |

im glad you were able to get the husky rom to work offroadgeek, it just lets me know i must be doing something wroong
but on a sidenote, im WAY more stoked on the cacko x11 rom right now ... ive got zgcc2 on my 760 set up (that AND gtk 1.2 and gimp etc etc ive only used like 20mb of my 94mb on-board flash, i can install ALOT more good stuff!) but this is the wrong forum to talk about that ... it just suffices to say im gonna try and start building x packages to add to sash's already decent list of apps, so we can hopefully build a decent feed for the cacko x11 rom ... |

so, I've decided to try 3.3.5 again on my 760... and I remember that someone on #openzaurus said to immediately un-install usbd-common. but when I launch Packages, I get the following error "Could not locate application aqpkg"
when I try to run it from konsole I get the following error: QuickLauncher invoked as: aqpkg Could not create application main window Any suggestion as to how I can get this to work? Oh yeah, the whole point of me doing this is so that I can remove usbd-common as recommended in the readme file. regards |

I flashed to it too..
it looks great! I have screenshots here http://home.earthlink.net/~jchung41/OZ.html offroadgeek, I tried from konsole " ipkg remove usbd-common " but the package was not installed.. I did " ipkg-link list / "and it didnt show the package. strange.. btw I'm running this on my C700. this is what I observed on suspending and resuming. when you suspend, you have to press the power button and wait. when you want to resume, you press the power button and it turns off a couple of times and then it will work.. :? |

The removing usbd-common thing is for the collie image, there is a README file in the directory with the images. Assuming your images don't have a similar README I think you can do without trying to install it.

thanks for the clarification lardman... I'm still finding that 3.3.5 is a bit too unstable on my 760.... I can't seem to get the "Packages" app (aqpkg) to work correctly, and I can't get ipkg to uninstall/instlal aqpkg.
Not a big deal as it's obviously still in testing. I think I'll tinker with a a bit more... |
