Hi,
I'm sure this is documented a million times but I'm finding absolutely nothing helpful in google (conics *had* a guide, but the URL returns 404 error not found), and the search in this forum seems completely broken for me. Where the heck are the guides/downloads for English conversion, both on the Zaurus itself and the Windows sync software? I just got mine, but I can't do a whole lot with it at the moment. Thanks. |

If you have a CF or SD card and a card reader, then get a console program either from the CD that came with the Zaurus (it's called console....) or better download qconsole from the Zaurus Software Index. Put the ipk on the card and put it on the Zaurus. You have to guess which app is the add-remove software (it launches with 3 big buttons, click on the top button and you should see the ipk listed click on it and then click OK maybe twice and quit the program). Launch the console, su to root and edit /etc/locale.conf changing language=ja to language=en, save the edits and type reboot on the console, the Zaurus will reboot in english. I assume you can use vi and has seen a linux config file before. If not maybe you should search around for more detailed instructions.

thanks guys.
I've got pdaXrom on it now, can't say I'm a huge fan of it - it's really cool for a small laptop, but I have a Powerbook for that kind of stuff. The rom sucks for PDA functionality :-) I'll try Cacko now. Any other ROMS people suggest? I notice things like OpenZaurus don't seem to actually support the SL-C860 but people seem to have successful flashes anyway? |

Heh, no kidding; didn't realise it would be that easy (thought one would need to replace data/language files manually). Nod, I use vi/vim religiously daily. |

Installed Cacko QT; it's nice, very suited as a PDA. Thing is, I get the impression development on the ROM has ceased - how come?
I've posted a thread in the relevant forums about it: http://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...=ST&f=26&t=7580 |
