I translated the C3000 to english using the information here http://mspencer.net/stuff/c700conv.html. Thank you Stu! I like how it worked.

I have a question regarding the screen keyboard input. (does this have a particular name?) The english characters using the screen input display a bit differently than those of the keyboard when typing, but they are recognizable. However when I tried to use the screen as input for Qazoo or text editor either garbage or nothing displays.

Are there settings to adjust this input or a remapping of the characters possible?

Thank you,
Kerensa

Sounds like you are in double width mode (ie the Alphabet characters "A","B" etc take up the same sqpace as a kanji character would.

There are 3 buttons/keys to the left of the on-screen keyboard which have Japanese characters, make sure the second buttton is selected - it changes to a blue color on my C760- this puts the keyboard in English single spaced characters

That did it! Glad it was that easy! I also found the handwriting works pretty well for english when the far left button is pressed.

Pretty nifty!

I was doing reading on this and found references to replacing this keyboard with an english one from the sl5000, at least on the c7XX. Has anyone tried this? I couldn't find the files themselves, just the packaged ROM files.

I certainly like having kanji instead of boxes, but don't honestly see me inputing in Japanese anytime soon...

Thank you,
Kerensa

You don't want to use the one from the sl5000 as it is designed for the 320x240 screen and is much too tiny to use properly.

I have the English handwriting, unicode input and cacko's cyrillic keyboard running in addition to the Japanese input methods (plus a few other input methods that I've found on the net)

The handwriting input comes with the converted C3ks from conics (AFAIK) and you can get the cyrillic keyboard (which is very easy to create new keyboards for) from http://my-zaurus.narod.ru/cyrinput.html
