I'm having a problem with an internet connection with OZ 3.5.1 via a Win XP box. I have Internet connection sharing set, with a 192.168.1.114 on the desktop's Ethernet interface, 192.168.0.1 on the desktop's USB interface, and 192.168.0.2 on the Z's USB interface. The gateway is 192.168.1.1. From the Z, I can ping the WinXP box. I can ping the gateway. I can even ping the internet by IP address (so I assume routing is all correct).
What I can't do is get and DNS queries to work. When I try to ping www.google.com, I get a "hostname lookup failure." Given that I can even ping the DNS server (I have the gateway configured as the first one under the Network app, and the actual Internet DNS server as the second), I figure I must be doing something else wrong. I noticed that I don't have an /etc/resolv.conf file--how does OZ handle domain resolution (i.e., how does the resolvconf package work)? TIA. . . |

QUOTE /etc/resolv.conf This file needs to be created iirc; its omission is a mistake. Si |

And its format is
CODE nameserver 123.123.123.123 nameserver 123.123.123.124 replace 123.123.123.12X with your dns server (you can find it by clicking on your network connection in XP and viewing status then details - something like that, it's easy to find anyway) Stu |
