I didn't see anything on screen res. Did I miss it, or is it indeed MIA?

It's rumored to be 1024x600 (sweet), and things will be clear tomorrow when Asus makes the official announcement.

I'm looking forward to the announcement. The main gripe I have with the EEE 701 is it's screen. Of course, I'm a bit spoiled since my last ultraportable subnotebook before the EEE had an 8.9" touchscreen. Depending on when this goes on sale, I might sell my EEE PC 701 to my roommate and grab this new one.
The speakers look to be on the bottom. I wonder how they'll perform compared to the speakers on the sides of the screen of the current models. As long as you're not in a loud environment, the current speakers do pretty good. |

Pixels revealed -- it's 1024x600.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/04/asus-9-...-living-pixels/ Rumor has it that this new beast will be priced like 702 (the current 8G model). But imho I don't think Asus will push it to the market any time soon just because 701 is just about to start selling in many countries. |

it does indeed look sweet. I'm visiting Phoenix in May/June, so I might pick one up for my daughter as they should be cheaper there.

More update here: http://blog.laptopmag.com/eee-pc-to-get-in...n-forward-style
QUOTE Any information on the pricing on the new 8.9-inch model? In the beginning and in April, around the release date, it will initially be higher and be around $499 in the United States. From the user feedback, I think if we provide a bigger screen and bigger storage it may be more popular than the 7-inch version. The second generation is very important for us. $499... that's not bad! |

I think I will skip 900 and wait for the next generation with Atom processor.
Now I am still very happy with my black 701, especially after setting up Debian Lenny and get almost everything working. |
