Hitachi Flora-ie MX1 - 6000sl 'clone' has bluetooth and wifi for geeky bedtime surfing.
Yup its japanese WM2003se- but with the right front end GSFinder you'd never know. Runs Opera ( licence not provided), TCPMP and Acrobat (use ForceHires to view tiny fonts). Its even got some client/server browsing stuff built in(?) I've had 2 Zeds and for everday stuff I'm affaid the Flora wins- its great for watching movies, reading pdf, and talking book whilst on holiday. Before anybody asks - I've never managed to get a ROM dump for dual booting. It's in great condition, and will come with a UK powersupply and a USB dongle. £120 inc p&p - or offers there abouts. [can take paypal] |

Do i remember right that WM2003 still had the problem of reconfigure/reinstall or restore all if battery runs empty? This was first solved with WM5? The Opera version which runs is: Opera 8.0 for Windows Mobile, Smartphone (WM 2003)? http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/winmobile/ A short german descrition of the Flora can be found here: http://www.pocketpc-salzburg.at/modules.ph...e=print&sid=590 Does WPA encryption work on the WLAN? Thanks Georg |

Hi Georg
WM2003se does forget your settings if its internal back up battery goes flat - about 2 days after main battery loses its charge. I use the included back up utility or just keep my 'install files/ scripts in the Flora's flash memory- for permanent storage. I used Opera 8 - I believe 8.6 for Pocket PC will run even better. All the internal software is in Japanese - picture, word and excel are easy to get on with but I think the pims does things 'different alphabet' - this can be tweaked with a reg hack - I just use 3rd party UK software. Does WPA work ?? - I've only used it on open networks - WEP DNS WINS IP & VNC all a peer in the network configuration settings. To get WPA (or) pure English language support - it would take some one who knows more about these things than my newbie self. I have found 'hacks' on the web - but asking a Japanese student - is far easier ;-) |
