I was trawling on some Japanese sites tonight, and found some interesting stuff for my Z.
I searched this forum, and didn't find any refrences to mimetypetool & progressapplet.
I thought it would be a good idea to post about them smile.gif
I found MimeTypeTool and a newer version of Cloverpaint mentioned on this forum.
http://www.mobilenews.ne.jp/news/all/zaurus.html

MimeTypeTool - (mimetypetool_0.2.1a-1_arm.ipk)
http://hake.syuriken.jp/mimetypetool/index.html
Another link posted about MimeTypeTool.
http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/t...2f20050903%2fp1

I haven't tried the mimetypetool yet. The above site is Japanese, but shows about 14 pics of the app being used.

EDIT: MimeTypeTool requires Ruby. I need to go back and see just what it all entails.
The executable in my /bin directory is "mimetypetool.rb" (I'll get back to this later).
I installed Ruby and another required file to satisfy Ruby, (ruby-qte_0.5.1-1_arm.ipk) from the Cacko feed.
It now runs, but MimeTypeTool has Japanese headers, buttons, and column headers.
I thought it would be in English on my Z, but it needs to be translateed.
I enclosed a screenshot of it on my C3100.

Cloverpaint - (cloverpaint_1.1b7_arm.ipk)
http://pda-paint.cocolog-nifty.com/clover/...rpaint_11_.html
(The version that I have installed on my Z is 1.05) I'll have to try this version soon.

I also found an interesting applet called "progressapplet" - (progressapplet_0.0.1_arm.ipk)
http://www.ayati.com/KOMONO/c7soft.htm
This applet sits in the taskbar and is invisible until you launch an application.
While your application is launching, this progressapplet displays a colored progress bar in the taskbar, and shows the percentage of the progress.
It then disappears, once it reaches 100%

EDIT2: I Decided to uninstall Progressapplet.
It is always running in the background, and it executed when I launched the Add/Remove package manager.
The major reason that I uninstalled it, is because it interferes with PC Link, or what I have seen called, "Zaurus drive"
I always connect my Z to my PC using the storage setting.
When my Z was connecting, I got the popup, asking to close any running programs, (twice). Then I had to wait much longer for my Z to connect.
Since I removed Progressapplet, PC Link has no problems connecting.

News (in japanese) for japanese programs for the zaurus can be found at http://www.areanine.gr.jp/~nyano/
In general, the programs mentioned do not appear in the forums, and vice-versa.

I decided to un-install Mimetypetool, Ruby and it's associated files.
When trying to figure out what the functions of Mimetypetool did, I mucked up my mime type for text and Zeditor.
I needed to find out what went wrong and manually edit my .desktop file and mime.type file to get my association back for Zeditor.
This took awhile.
It seems that there are 3 distinct methods of associating a file with a program.
I won't explain the 3 methods here, but each method has it's own matching settings in both .desktop file and mime.type file.
In the example above with my association with Zeditor, I had these "matching settings" from one method, (PLUS a single setting from another method, in mime.type).
Deleting the additional setting, (in mime.type) fixed my problem.

If anyone wants to "give it a try" and "translate" this program, I think it would be a helpful program to have for us English speaking users.
I enclosed the latest version of Mimetypetool.
The version of Ruby that I used in Cacko 1.23 is:
ruby_1.8.0-1_arm.ipk
and it's necessory additional file:
ruby-qte_0.5.1-1_arm.ipk
