QUOTE(snk4ever @ Mar 1 2006, 08:09 AM) I can't extract zip files with treeexplorer! So I did it on another computer and made a tar. Now I have the files but I can't overwrite the files from /opt/QtPalmtop/binlib/ for example because it says it's read-only To unzip type "unzip [filename]" at a console To replace those read only files just delete the destination file first. |

Hi all. It seems that this steps forgot the installation of the executable 'sljisho' and his desktop shortcut. I finally extracted it from the 'japanese-support_1.0-3_arm.ipk' file.
I thought this could be a big headache for many people. Thanks for the tutorial P.D.: I'm sorry for my bad english |

Thanks for the tutorial P.D.: I'm sorry for my bad english I didn't forget the sljisho installation. As I explained in the guide it was no longer useful to me and it takes up 33MB of internal memory, so I didn't bother In any case, couldn't you just install it directly from the ipk? http://web.mol.ru/~zaurus/feed/japanese-dict_1.0-2_arm.ipk |

I tried the keyhelper, but i dont know how to use it. thanks I wrote the guide specifically for the C1000, so I'm not too sure about your problem, but for step 10 be sure to follow your C860's original japanese qpe.sh script. Or perhaps the keyhelper in the C860 Cacko has remapped the two japanese keys into something else. Try deleting the keyhelper.xml and keyhelper.conf files (or safer, move them somewhere else). Btw did you encounter any other problems? I'll be getting a new C860 by end of this week (hopefully)and converting it to Cacko Japanese so any feedback will be helpful. |

(I've updated my guide to mention this). |

QUOTE(Meanie @ Apr 6 2006, 03:51 PM) Well yes that's the idea, but easier said than done. In the C860 series Cacko the mapping isn't done at the Qtopia level via keyhelper+Cyrillica, but at the kernel level. This is my understanding based on Maslovsky's "Japanese kernel for Cacko rom" thread. And its actually F26 and F21. |

QUOTE would it make sence, if i flash the Cacko1.23 with the japanese Kernel from the 1.22?? I've actually tried it earlier on. It does release the two keys, but unfortunately it will also screw up the memory card mount/unmount process, among other things... |

Please, try this update (for C7x0/C860):
http://cacko.oesf.org/downloads/rom/1.23/C...-1132170506.zip http://cacko.oesf.org/downloads/rom/1.23/C...-1132170506.md5 This kernel is built without remapping Japanese keys to Ctrl and Alt. |

Ive updated the guide to include the C860, as well as optional and previously missing items. Much more complete now I think.
