Hello Hitchhiker fans,
I have just uploaded my Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy background to zaurusthemes.com ![]() Other H2G2 trivia on my Z: I have the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy MP3 CD (buy at Amazon) so I copied the files to my Z and can listen using opieplayer2. Now I just need a h2g2 skin to make that complete ... If you have Frotz or any Zcode interpreter installed, you can even play the H2G2 text adventure game on your Z (you need the file hhgg.z5 which was last sold on "The Lost Treasures of Infocom" collection or you may find it kicking around on the Internet somewhere ...) Off-topic, but check out the new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series (tertiary phase) at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/. You can listen to the programmes or play the game online. And watch out for the movie next year. |

Great background! Nice to see another Douglas Adams fan. (I read his books obsessively)

Quite nice, I like them. Still unsure about Ford, but the movie looks great regardless. Nothing against his skin colour, he just seems to have lost his British accent and humour, to be replaced with American versions of both, and his oddness. Then again, this is just ramblings based upon a short trailer.

I guess it will be very Americani-Z-ed, that's what happens when we let our own film industry collapse
I won't bother going to see it. I'll rent it, as for War of the Worlds* - I'll erase it from memory. The robot looks nice though, it reminds me of the prototype of the new Robosapien. *UPDATE There appears to be a proper version of War of the Worlds coming which is separate to the American, Independence Day type movie. There's hope after all ;-) |

I haven't seen the trailer; and I read the books before hearing the radio play, so I may have a different perception of things than others, but: Ford, and Zaphod particularly, always struck me as something-other-than-british. I've imagined Zaphod with a Brooklyn accent, and Ford with somewhere between American Midwest, and London. Ford, particularly, is shifty, and alien and I've always figured his accent would be hard to place. Most everyone else, in my mind's ear are British. Excepting Hactar. I can't visualize his/her/its voice at all. |

Last year i was at a conference (Extreme Technology 04 i think) in london and the production team from hitchikers guide were there talking about the film (we even saw a photo from on set!) and they were proper fans, seemingly making a big effort not to ruin Douglas Adam's work.
So i think it may be too early to judge if it will be a bad film.... I for one will definitely go see it :-) Just my thoughts... |

You can see the trailer at the official movie site. I've always pictured them all as being British, mainly because I listened to the radio series first, then moved on to the books, then the TV series, then the new radio series, and soon the movie. I'll constantly be comparing the movie Ford to Ford from the TV series, he was brilliant in it.

I can't view any of the trailers at the moment I only have RealPlayer and it doesn't work properly on my machine. I'll have to wait until I get my new setup.
Martin Freeman is playing Arthur Dent, so it won't be an all-American thing after all, so I take back my original sentiments - I MAY go and see it. Don't Panic! ;-) |

That's one of the problems with reading the book first and then seeing the movie. You have it in your head how things are, and then the movie looks different.
I've been saying "42" to people for years and they always look at me funny. |
