QUOTE the problem Opie devs have with this, is that Lycoris has only taken something, they haven't given back (in the form of development/code) to Opie. The problem Trolltech has with this is they did not license libraries from Trolltech, so it will be illegal for any closed source commercial Qtopia software to be written/run on this. See foot. Shoot.
So, when they actually release a product, they will have to release full source. If not, they can be sued. And VeeDubb, the issue with the name would not be a copyright issue at all, it would be a trademark issue, which is very different. But there probably isn't one because "Pocket PC" is considered a generic name at this point. We should all release products called "Pocket PC" just to piss off MS even more. |

They have to release the source, but nothing in the GPL forbids them charging anything they want for it!
TKC are charging $49.95 for the source of their $6.95 kpat port - TkcTrump. As Lycoris are charging only $30 for their desktop version it might not be too expensive. Stu |

Yep, you can give to as many people as you like for as much or as little as you like. Same for the binaries.

Seems Lycoris are taking their sweet time with this new desktop.
Considering i made the original post on the 10th of Feb, and here it is the 15th of Sept, im wondering if we will ever see the end product. Lets continue to 'hope' that it may be worth looking at. In the time being, i'll have to hunt down other desktops for my Zaurus to keep me happy. - Devz |

Hey!
Anyone have any news on whether this will ever be released? Though I'm curious, I'll stick with the Cacko Rom unless this is a huge improvement. |

Read the letter the president of Lycoris recently issued. It says they are dropping the Pocket PC edition.
