Well, well....
The MIT Media Lab has an interesting project in the works....In MITs words "A technology that could revolutionize how we educate the world's children." It didn't say 1GB ram, it might be 1GB HD(which is prob. more likely, seeing as how it'll be linux based). Wouldn't 1GB of RAM be more costly?
