Hi and thank you..
"GeneWeb is a genealogy software program with a Web interface. It can be used off-line or in a Web environment." More information here http://pauillac.inria.fr/~ddr/GeneWeb/en/index.html and sources http://pauillac.inria.fr/~ddr/GeneWeb/en/download.html So after you have 2 binaries : "gwd" and "gwsetup" (webserver on 2336 and 2337 ports) and you can use it through Opera or Netfront to consult or update your personnal database You can try it here : http://geneweb.inria.fr/roglo?lang=en [Burgundian english langage |

hmmmm....having some difficulty just with a straight compile on RH9 with the ocaml installed. I don't know much about that compiler or pre-compiler. It'll be a while at best.

There seem to be a few genealogy programs out there for linux that look promising.
ftree - not bad looking, reads gedcom files http://www.vjet.demon.co.uk/ftree/ phpgedview - requires apache+php. This one looks pretty comprehensive http://phpgedview.sourceforge.net/ gramps - this one seems to require a lot of dependencies. "GRAMPS requires python 2.2 and the gnome-python and pygtk2 packages. The gnome-python and pygtk2 packages should be versions 1.99.14 or greater. Versions 2.0.0 or higher are recommended." http://gramps.sourceforge.net/ There was a program listed in http://killefiz.de/zaurus/ called familytree, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. The screenshots looked like it could be very useable, but no download or anything available. |

QUOTE(KrisSmith @ Jan 10 2005, 10:21 AM) It send me to http://jicesoft.com/ and I got lost on that site trying to see if there was any free software usable on the Zaurus. I have dialup for web access, and want to record stuff on my Z while talking on the phone with family members. Any other ideas for zaurus genealogy software? sdjf |
