I was perusing the clearance section at my local London Drugs today (Antikx and Grog you have to check this out!) and found something called a Netac USB-CF-Card. They had 64MB, 128, and 256MB models in the stand. Basically, it is a CF card with a female Mini-USB B port on it. It also comes bundled with a ZipLinQ with male USB A to male Mini USB B. I added my tiny male Mini USB A adapter to it to turn the ZipLinQ cable into a USB host cab le and voila I can now use my Wifi and CF card at the same time on my 1000. (Yes, I know it's cheating). Anyway, the 256MB card only set me $19.99 Canadian which I thought is pretty reasonable for the card plus ZipLinQ cable.
Here a manufacturer's photo of the card. And is my 1000 in seventh heaven running my SD, CF, and Wifi at the same time Sorry for the poor quality on the picture. I couldn't get the right lighting so I had to digitally enhance it.

That is prety neat.
It begs me to ask though... what if you plug the CF card into your CF slot while it's plugged into your USB port. Maybe you shouldn't try it. |

Some googling for "Netac USB-CF" found these 2 sites
Seems to be for sale for $12.95 and includes pic of usb cable http://www.jmtekstore.com/shop/prodView.asp?idproduct=82 http://www.jmtekstore.com/shop/prodList.asp?idCategory=16 but This site's review is dated Nov 2002, and is the same site that is linked in first post here. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0211/02112301netaccfminiusb.asp Good luck finding these, except in limited quantities. Some pics: EDIT: $12.95 would be a decent price for just the retractable USB cable, (in some areas) Also attached PDF manual for this gadget. This post has been edited by Jon_J: Sep 20 2006, 10:47 AM

HoloVector, Are you saying you use a usb Wifi key with your Netac card? If so, what is the wifi key you are using? What this setup work with my sl-c760? Sorry no. What the Netac lets me do is have my Wifi Card in the CF slot and the Netac is connected to my USB port on the back of my Z. You would need a Z with USB host mode like the 1000 or 3x00 series for this to work. Normally, I have a CF card in the slot when I'm working off-line and then remove it when I want to go on-line with Z using my wifi CF card. Now with the Netac, I can plug it into my Z's USB port and access the files on it while I am on-line. |

Agreed, unless you have something like London Drugs (where I got my from) which are clearing them out. These would be a bit difficult to find. |

I later noticed the above link to the $12.95 card/cable is only for a 128MB card. opps
Anyway, there is a good description there. I don't have WiFi, but this is what I would use for some external USB storage with my host adapter. Iogear-flashdrive (mounts automaticly in cacko) This post has been edited by Jon_J: Sep 20 2006, 11:40 AM
