Hello,
I purchased a Zaurus C3100. Now I'd link to link it to an external monitor. Do you know how is it possible to perform this operation please? Furthermore, can this model be linked also to a the TV? Many thanks for the help. Best, Nic |

This is only possible using the IODATA XGA CF card. This card has VGA and TV outputs, but it doesn't output in realtime. Just once or twice a second the Zaurus screen is mirrored to the external screen (using the special software available for download at Trisoft homepage)
Without special software, only the "Presentation" app on the Zaurus is able to use that card, and only to output images, not the entire screen. daniel |

I don't know if it works on the C3100, but for the older Zaurus there is a card, CFXGA, made by IO-Data, that displays the Zaurus screen on a monitor. It can also display slideshows on a TV but not mirror the screen. Unfortunately this card is no longer manufactured but there may be some still for sale. But, like I said, I don't know if it works on the C3100.
There may be some USB-to-VGA gadget you can try, but I don't really know. Felipe |

Hi all,
the IOData CFXGA card is a good solution and works like a charm in all Zauri. Unfortunately, the card is out of production since last year and we took all the stock they had together with Streamlinecpus. Actual count is: Only two cards are left on stock ! So, if you really want one of them, you shouldn't wait too long ///TRIsoft Marc Stephan |

Hi Marc,
Thanks for the message. If the card works well (it is to say, if with this card I can display the whole Zaurus screen on the big monitor) I'm interested in buying it. In the case, how much does it cost and how can I order it? Thanks. All the best, Nic QUOTE(TRIsoft @ Aug 30 2006, 04:49 AM) Hi all,

Even trying: CODE insmod -f ./memory_cs.o ....isn't successful I've connected it to my monitor, but of course, as I don't have the kernel module insmodded, I get no output. I have downloaded the source code & have tried compiling the km on my zaurus using the loop gcc from Meanie, but I get errors like: CODE pcmcia/version.h: No such file or directory ..this is because I don't have the kernel source (yet) for my zaurus...I can get it easily enough from Tetsu, as I am using his kernel.......*but*....perhaps I am going about all of this the long way around???? ..You mentioned that the CFXGA card works for all the Sharp zaurii. ..since I am not using OZ, I would think I should be able to get the card working, yes? You asked about a tv connection. I have yet to try it but the blaze psp to tv adapter could easily be hacked for use on the zaurus.
I am thinking about getting one soon to try it. --fish |

A while back, I saw some pcmcia vga cards (intended for laptops). I would think that you could combine this with a cf -> pcmcia adapter, and as long as the card is using a standard chipset you should be able to get X11 going on it.
Two problems that you could run into, is: 1) the CF slot only has 3v, whereas pcmcia also has 5v. Some cf -> pcmcia adapters have an additional power plug to provide 5v though. 2) I can't tell if the currently shipping pcmcia vga cards are the older pc card spec (which matches up with cf slots), or if they are cardbus. From what I understand, pc card is equivilant to an ISA bus, where cardbus is more like a PCI bus. |

In the end, shortly after posting my worried cry for help, I ended up using the NAND Trisoft backup, then re-installed Testu's kernel & then did a restore from backup of my system (which I *did* remember to do before my hacking It sounds painful, but it only took about 30 minutes before I was up & running again, and the VGA adapter works finr Basically, the memory_cs.o that ships with the Trisoft NAND backup works fine, and I shouldn't overwritten it with the one I downloaded from the iodata website It's quite hard to do that actually, as I had to remount / as rw....not something you do accidentally. Anyway, no harm done, card works great & thanks again for posting you kernel module. Cheers, zedkatuf |
