one exists, but debatable how useable it is. take a google for qpose. it emulates the 68000-based palms of yesteryear. also, qpilot too I think was a the qtopia variant?

I'm surprised noone's tried extracting the version on the nokia 770 tablet to see if it can be made to work, it's more of a virtual machine than qpose.

The ones I have read about are only for the older palms. (black & white screen)
I was looking for one that would emulate the newer Palms, like my Zire 72, but have had no luck.

EDIT:
I just took another look at this software and it is NOT a Palm emulator.
It is syncing soft and is also similar to palm desktop. Sorry if I misinformed you.
There was a person working on a palm emu in the "new packages announcements" sticky thread in pdaxrom.

Yep I am after one that would emulate the newer colour palms, but will see what I can get away with as there is a possibility the app that i want to use might just work with the older ones.

Unfortunately not, Game-system wise you will also have the same issue with most, if not all, non-cartridge emulators

ROM's are not legal because it it is the (in this case PALM) company's proprietary code... I do not currently know of any free alternatives that are non-proprietary.

I'm just returning to this forum after quite a long hiatus.

That said, I have never found a PalmOS emulator that functions on the Zaurus.

I also see absolutely no technical limitations, that would prevent one from being released however.

I have used POSE to emulate a Palm IIIc (YES, color) on various LINUX flavors, and have
never actually run into ANY glitches, that I can remember.

I designed and developed a multitasking environment, and stacked windowing system, for PalmOS
between 2002 and 2004, funding it myself. It was called MISKINIX, and I agreed to halt development
when offered a "dream job" at SavaJe. When I left SavaJe, and SavaJe "left the business", I was
so hooked on Zaurus, that I never looked back at PalmOS "style" development.

Well it's now 2008, I got laid off again a few months ago, and I've been seriously thinking of
"re-investigating" the capabilities of MISKINIX, on both a Palm IIIc, as well as other "systems".

It would be absolutely cool, to have the ability of running (color-mandatory) POSE on the Zaurus,
if/when I pursue PalmOS-based systems.

Keep in mind, that I once spent about 2 days compiling POSE on a Pentium-100, not including the
time it took for me to "fix" some dependent packages on good-old Redhat 7.1, so I would expect a
native compile of POSE to be quite an effort to embark upon.

I'm also curious about other folks reasons for wanting POSE available on the Zs. Is it just to be able
to run currently-available and free PalmOS applications? For me, the extremely long battery life of
Palm IIIc, is the major motivator for wanting a "real" workstation-style system in my pocket.

basically, I want the various PIM (calendar, contacts, todo) applications, third party extensions to them - e.g. datebook5/6, the desktop sync to make reliable copies of my PIM data.

as a bonus, the access to ereader/palmreader-pro for ebooks (sadly with DRM). possibly even the TomTom palm navigational s/w too.

The wife has a number of ebooks that are only usable on a Palm device. I'd like to be able to read them. Actually they do have a reader for winbloze that works fine but I'm not about to tote the laptop around for a little light reading. To date I simply haven't read any of those books, which seems like a waste. She's done reading them and I can't.
