I'm looking forward to trying titchy/debian too, but I doubt it will be noticeably faster than pdax113. in fact I'd guess it was slower, if anything. the appeal, for me anyway, is the simplicity of preconfigured debian feeds, and a good ole' debian system which I've been using in one form or another for a few years.

I agree that Debian is not notieceably faster than pdaXii, but they come very close. I've posted some simple program launch speed test results in the Debian thread. I don't think pdaXii will be noticeably faster, either.
A complete package repository and a documentation system are the biggest advantages.
And you can freely upgrade the system without wiping the disk clean and doing all the setup afresh (like in pdaX).
And there are supposed not many Zaurus-specific tweaking in the user area (though something needs to be done to improve the kernel).

Actually pdaxii13 has a pretty decent upgrade system, and has had for awhile. The "wipe the system" step is pretty much history unless there are other reasons to do it.

I'd like to give debian a whirl, but it doesn't support my hardware (as seen in the titchy thread), and pdaxii13 does. The advantages I see in using debian are in access to reasonably current software and updates without the fear of something suddenly becoming non-upgradeable, like firefox has on the eabi and the 2.4 kernels both; the availability of a current and coherent dev environment (meanie has done what can be done on pdaxii13--it is pretty useful, but there is no qt4 and probably some other roadblocks) and the simple scale of the debian project.

I guess ATM pdaX is simply more predictable and less likely to give you headaches, and debian holds out the hope of really having a big dsitro on a handheld.

At first I was thinking there was no java plugin for browers. But I was wrong. The Lenny feeds have java-gcj-compat-plugin. Will test it soon.
