I installed this driver but the additional network adapter does not show up in the preferences. I am running Tiger and installed the proper version. Any ideas?

I rebooted and even tried to reinstall it but it just asked me to upgrade. There are no messages in the console.

Use Onyx to carry out the maintenance of hard drive followed by the reinstallation.
The driver should work and my OS is Tiger 10.4.2. |

Hmm....
Reinstalled the driver and used Onyx to repair permissions. Rebooted and still nothing. No new device is shown in the network preferences and I can't see one with an ifconfig command at a shell prompt. No messages at all in dmesg or in /var/log/system.log. I am running 10.4.2. Okay, more info. When I plug the Zaurus into the PB w/the USB cable, I get the following messages:

Is this correct? It never seems to let me exit the application and just gives me these pop ups. thanks, Bill QUOTE(mtfbwy @ Sep 6 2005, 04:58 AM) Hmm....

I figured out my issue. I had to configure PC Link before plugging the Zaurus in.

I've been trying it out with macbookpro 15.4", driver loaded ok but no usb0 or similar in "ifconfig -a", here's dmesg

QUOTE(speculatrix @ Jun 5 2007, 02:54 PM) WARNING: ether_attach_inet can't attach ip to en3 rtinit: wrong ifa (0x50b1d84) was (0x502a984) any ideas? thanks! Looks more like a bug in the driver. It does not find the interface in the first try but then successfully uses an alternate interface. The message forced close of interfering comm interface for client 0x50ac800 comes because some unknown Apple USB driver already connects to the Zaurus. But this is an intentional workaround. QUOTE I should add I'm running the very latest OSX with all patches (the machine is not even a week old) and I downloaded the latest AJZ driver/ That should not be the problem. At least it works for the Zaurus with Sharp/Cacko ROM, an Acer n30 with Letux (i.e. Familiar Distribution) and others have reported that it works with e.g. the Motoroal A780. So, it looks like something in your Zaurus config is different so that the driver does not recognize/handle it properly. On the other hand the rtinit call is not part of the AJZaurusUSB driver but appears to be part of Darwin: http://lists.apple.com/archives/Darwin-dev...n/msg00068.html I think I can analyse a little next week - this week I am attending WWDC. But maybe I can discuss it in one of the lab sessions. -- hns |
