How To Install Opera7.55 On Sl6000 Options

1. I was expecting to end up with more or less the same space occupied on the Internal memory (7.55 installed should mean 7.25 removed, right?) I have instead about 3Mb MORE occupied compared to when I had the "stock" Opera 7.25. Is it because some of the old files have to be removed manually or rather is it Opera 7.55 just a bigger installation? Reading through this thread all the comments about the voice command function makes me thing it is just Opera 7.55 being bigger....

2. Is there any way to "trick" Opera (or any other program for that matter) into being installed on CF/SD even it would have to go on the internal memory? With Opera 7.55 installed I'm a little over 18Mb taken on the Internal memory, I'd like to keep it lighter if possible.

All these can be done manually. Delete or symbol link the voice command lib/binary. I've seen a trimmed down Opera7.55 ipk for sharp rom floating around, maybe in the software forum.

In a previous post for OZ some one mentioned that 'Please note that this is for an SD-card install... and you should remove or edit the postinst for any other install destination.' in http://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15885

I haven't try or attempt to modify the mentioned file, hack, i don't even know where is the posyinst..  so, for all the 'remaining' experienced 6k user, can some one check if installation to SD is possible? also i have a copy of the extracted opera 7.55 without all the junk, ofcourse no voice command as well, let me know if anybody need it.

P/S: did someone notice that on sharp's site, it says re-launching the development project, i'm not sure, i saw that in the link in opera 7.55 home page, but got redirected right after that.

Edit: my bad, it says 2002, apparently the site has not been updated in decades.. i felt left out being a 6k user..

P.S.: I also removed libpdf from the plugin directory, another Meg of memory saved.... I actually moved it to a backup directory on my SD card, just in case.

I "trick" my Zaurus into thinking applications are installed to internal memory by using symlinks.

Two ways to go. The first is to actually install to internal memory, then find the biggest files, move them to SD or CF card, then create a symlink from internal memory to the new location:

ln -s /new/path-to-file/YOURFILENAME /old/path/to/YOURFILE

The second way is harder, to unpack by hand on expansion card and create links to them from internal memory based on the paths shown when the ipk is unpacked. Example of this for a tiff viewer is at http://sdjf.esmartdesign.com/ipks/tiff.html
