Hi all,
I received my sharp zaurus 5600-sl today, with a linksys card, and qtopia. The ROM is version 0.a8. I have read the faq so i now how to upgrade the ROM, but not where to find another qtopia version, for example... and also what happens to the old ROM when upgrade ? I tried to connect, but.. the network is an open (not secured) hotspot, and when i go to "network", there is never a service available. Tried also to install kismet but it seems for ROM version 3 ? and, it needs to be compiled, that is a thing i'm not used to. i have not even the compiler. More, the filebrowser icon is there but the application is not installed... ! I really need some hints to start ! thanks all; L |

Try the Model specific forum - "general discussion" and "hardware" for 5x00
http://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showforum=125 Then do some reading in the Sharp ROM forum below. There is discussion of the default ROM and where to find applications. http://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showforum=26 As for the linksys card, try the networking forum. Search for the linksys card model number. http://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showforum=75 BTW, I've never used one of the 5x00 models, but most of the "original" Sharp released applications should work. I think you can download your original ROM on the Sharp website. You can also find software for the default ROM on top of this forum. Click "ELSI" Hi all,

Thanks for replying.
Now every thing is working, kismet, connection, etc. But not partitioning my SD card. I wanted to setup 2 partitions, first should be a DOS Fat16 partition, the 2 a swap partition. But things went bad when i issue a # mkfs -t vfat /dev/mmcda1 partition fdisk keeps seeing a linux partition, but Windows see 171 kb free... when a copy from windows, the card can no more be mounted. Any hint ? thx Lisztfr |

Done... i had forgot to set the type of the FAT partition to 06, with -t in fdisk. Now every thing is working.
