Anyone know how I can connect to an 'infrastructure' wifi netowork that has spaces in it's SSID ? I keep trying to configure it manually, but my C1000 won't let me type in the spaces (and you might have noticed I even tried ascii code). tyoing the correct ssid in the text editor and then using cut and paste didn't work either.
Any thoughts ? Also, I'll ask again, since nobidy responded to my earlier inquiry, does anyone know what Wellenreiter dies after about a minute of successful sniffing (it certainly finds things, but it shuts down showrtly after doing so). Thnks all! |

Thnks all!  just edit the wlan config file using vi instead of using the network config applet

hi same pb, you need to edit
1 - the WLANx.conf in /home/zaurus/Applications/Network/modules there are several one if you have set up several connexions. you will find a field with your ssid, add a space. 2 - and in /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.opts, you will find all your set up. find your ssid to be modied and add a space. .. for me something went wrong with the dhcp, i had to set up a fixed IP, mask, gateway first (my laptop was connected, i just get the gw and mask from it and add 1 to the laptop IP for the Z), then after that the connexion was succefull but no access to the the internet. I removed the fixed stuff, and this time the dhcp process was ok, and it is working. |

Thanks ya'll. Spot on advice (though I didn't get a chance to test the %20 yet).
I haven't gotten the Z working on this particular troublesome wireless network (but then I haven't gotten my laptop working with it either, so I begin to think the network it self might be slightly jacked), but I definitely was able to enter the SSID as my laptop seems to recognize it during the site scan. As for ssid 'ANY' it didn't work on this particular network, but it randomly connected to something when I fired the Z up elsewhere... The instructions from Bolbit are right on (just in case someone is reading this looking for instructions). After reading Meanies response I spent a couple hours trying to figure out which file to edit before I noticed some one else had posted with that exact info.  Thanks again all ! |
