I was in Maplins yesterday and I saw they had USB mini A five pin to full sized A adaptors, whether these will work I don't know, but if I had a suitable Z I would buy one, and use a multimeter to check the pinouts.

If you are talking about USB host then no they don't work. Bought one today to try and got absolutely no response from my USB pen drive

I have tried both GoldX USB adapter kit and Serial IO's USB-RS232 Adaptor which comes with a Mini-A to USB Host converter. Both converter cables worked just fine for my USB memory key.
