Is there a good ebook/text reader that shows what page your on, bookmarks, and allows you to jump to certain page?

It does not show what page you are on (unless I have not seen some specific setting), but does show what percentage through the book/file you are. Likewise, you can jump to a specific number of Kb through the file, but not to a specific page number. It DOES allow for bookmarking and the ability to jump between bookmarks. |

opie reader is nice but cant mobipocket make a mobipocket reader for the zaurus?
that app bookmarks the ebook automatically, shows the page number and you can go to any page. and the ebook fills the whole screen better  still, opie reader is nice and can open a lot of stuff! that's the most important for me

There is a bug in the version of QT/embedded which is used in Sharp based ROMs which means the launcher bar keeps overwriting the bottom of the screen so you can also turn off the toolbar, scrollbar and statusbar to get a (near) fullscreen effect but which doesn't use the space behind the launcher bar - or you can just use opie with the fullscreen mode which has a fixed version of QT/embedded 8^). As for pages, I personally hate the concept of pages for an e-book reader. If you equate a page to a screenful then any change you make to the formatting means your paging needs re-doing. And if you don't equate it to a screenful, what is a page? OTOH, opie-reader is open source so if anyone *else* wants page functionality, feel free to add it ;^). BTW you can jump to a percentage position in opie-reader by either putting a % on the end of the number you enter into the "jump" box, or by putting a "." somewhere in the number to make it a floating point number (this *may* vary according to locale - I can't remember if I use QT functions to manage that or not). |

hmm, i didn't find out how to autogenerate the bookmarks.
i know how to go into full screen but mobipocket just does it better. i can see more text (better formatted maybe?) thanks for the other tips though

You can get more text on the display by adjusting the text size, reducing the size of the margins and, if you still want more, reducing the amount of leading between lines. I've attached a screenshot of the most I can personally tolerate on my SL5000. This is using the smallsmooth font with the top margin set at 5, the bottom margin to 0 and the left and right margins to 20. I've set the line leading to -4 (yes, -4, i.e. less than 0) and the paragraph leading to -1. Is this closer to what you had in mind?

Of course that might be reversed if the display is not able to display the fine serifes. |

The edges of the letters where the serifs should be just end up a misty blur (or is that the bifocals again). As you say, the higher resolution probably gives you the serifs even at the small font sizes and hence better legibility. Yet another good reason for me to upgrade to a clam-shell model 8^). |

FBReader makes a pretty good reader -- but personally I'd like to see the Plucker folks make a native port
