see, that's not even logical. We live in a capitolistic society, or rather, the US is a capitolistic society. Thus, everyone has the opportunity to make as much money as they can. Most of the money spent on a CD for instance goes to the RIAA/MPAA. Artists deserve to make money doing what they know how to do.
I asked about the legality for a reason. I don't wanna get sued over it, and I don't wanna face any form of criminal punishment. |

QUOTE(akunthita @ Sep 21 2005, 07:14 PM) I was just wondering where do you guys get your MP3 downloads for your Zaurus? I see a lot of free download sites but I'm afraid to use them as they seem to have a tendency to take over my desktop. I highly recommend http://www.peoplesound.com ..they have a large range of free mp3 downloads; the site is a community music portal for the usually not-so-well-known artists who want to spread their fame, I guess. Some of the music is of outstanding quality (particularly the jazz |

QUOTE(microsoft/linux @ Jun 24 2006, 07:22 AM) We live in a capitolistic society, or rather, the US is a capitolistic society. Thus, everyone has the opportunity to make as much money as they can. That's where you're wrong. The US is and always was a constitutional republic. The preamble of the Constitution is clear - the US is built upon the princliple of the general welfare. The US is also constitutionally based upon the principle that the Federal Government is the only entity with the right to raise credit. It is not a capitalist country in principle; in practice it wouldn't be if the citizens of the Republic stopped allowing themselves to be stepped on by the capitalist financiers. Then, maybe, artists would have the opportunity to make the music they want to make, that I might want to hear, and earn a reasonable wage for doing so. Personally, where an artist I enjoy chooses to set up their own record label / distribution, they get my cash. Where the majority of the money goes to the RIAA, I'll go to allofmp3.com in the full knowledge its illegal for me to do so, because at this point it seems to be the only message to be sending to both the artists and the RIAA. And I believe they are getting the message loud and clear. Democracy is the buzz word of the day. Lets have regime change around the world and bring all those poor people democracy. That's propoganda. Monopoly is and always was the policy of big business and there's nothing democratic about it. Mike. |
