I'm having some trouble with a USB flash drive on my C1000. I'm using the Trisoft backup image which contains the USB automount script.
I have a PQI USB 2 256 Mb flash drive which mounts perfectly fine as /dev/sd1 at /home/system/var/mnt/usbhdd. It appears in the System Info app as a "USB Mass Storage Device." I also have an Intuix USB 2 128 Mb flash drive which doesn't mount at all. It appears in the System Info app as a "USB disk." However, when I do a df I can see it hasn't been mounted. Here's the output of dmesg after I plug the Intuix USB key in:
usberrors.txt ( 7.47K )
Number of downloads: 45I have not reformatted either of these drives. I've used the Intuix one on Macs and on PCs (so it's littered with annoying dotfiles), and the PQI one on PCs only. I would be so glad for any help anyone can provide! |

I can't help interpret the error log, but I have the strong impression that power issues are the problem. I have a Cruzer Titanium that works reliably on both the 6000 and 1000, an Easydisk that works on the 6000 and occasionally on the 1000, especially if it is on AC power rather than battery, and an Apricorn that will only work on the 6000 (and which in not a flash drive in any event). My impression is that the initial system recognition routine draws more power than subsequent use and sometimes fails in some of the devices.
