Hi all,
since there was a lot of discussion why the Openmoko community does not use a forum, I have asked the moderators of OESF to create one for anyone who prefers to use a forum over subscribing to the mailing lists. For those who directly come here and don't know details, let me introduce some key resources: 1. Wiki Please, please refer to the Openmoko Wiki since there are tons of information available. If you find that it needs improvement, please do so. It is a Wiki. http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Main_Page 2. Mailing lists Many active mailing lists exist: http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/ For the newcomer, the community discussion and announcement lists are most important to take a look at. 3. Openmoko Freerunner aka GTA02 No, I don't know yet when it will be exactly available for sale. But there is a Getting Started page which gives the best introduction: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Getting_Star..._Neo_FreeRunner 4. Miscellaneous - first to note for the newcomer: there is Openmoko, Inc., the company that develops the hardware. It is a subsidary of FIC. Then, there is the open source Openmoko software stack which is a distribution derived from Angstrom (Open Zaurus). A "MokoMakefile" simplifies fetching all required components and building the complete flash images yourself. - for MacOS X users, there is a dedicated page: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/MacOS_X - many important things I forgot to mention. So, please use the forum, write your questions, comments, answers etc. Nikolaus |
