I need to view big images , maps specifically , with sizes of 7000x6000 pixels or such. GQview doesn't even try to load them, I tried few other image viewers, but they all try to load the whole image at once. Is there any image viewer that can preload only what you see, and when scrolling, to reload on demand ?

I'm looking for such a prog too but I'm not expecting it to handle 7000x6000 - I'm very surprised that a palm could open such a large image! How much RAM did you have in this device? I think my PC would struggle with images that big!
I'm looking for a better image viewer for pdaX than feh which is the best I've tried so far but that refuses to display some of my larger (1600x1200) images. |

I had a program there, it was crappy as interface, don't even remember the name, but it worked surprisingly fast, my Visor Prism have 8MB memory, but this program worked great. I doubt that there aren't any others that can do image decompressing on demand. |

With swapfile on (actually swap partition) gqview is able to open quarter sized images (uses about 110mb of 256), which is a progress, as i can split the maps to 4 pieces each. Thanks for the tip
I can use it like this, until something better pops out.

Hm, it's crappy slow
so slow, that it cannot be used at all ... Each move on the map uses about 1 minute to process ...

If someone can find the source for this program, maybe it could be compiled to run in pdaxrom.
It opens large images in Sharp/Cacko. tximage_0.2_arm.ipk There is a source link on below page, but it's dead. http://zsi2.stonekeep.com/index.php?v=d&a=1144 TxImage is a fast and full-featured image viewer. Features include thumbnail image browser, fullscreen slide show, rename/delete images, rotate and bright images, bookmarks and support for very large jpeg images (1600x1200 and more). Here's my short experience with this program below. ------------------------------------------------------------ I don't use this because it parses all directories (SD & CF cards) upon launch. This seems to be a Qtopia thing. If it encounters an image file with an error, this program aborts or fails to launch. Removing SD & CF cards enables this to run, because it only seems to parse the /Documents/ directory on /hdd3/ ------------------------------------------------------------ EDIT: I just re-installed it and forgot to enable swap. Then I launched it and it's reading all the image files in my /hdd3/Documents/ folder. It's taking about 10 minutes, because I have over 200 saved web pages with all images included. It opened briefly, then several minutes later, I ran out of memory. I need to reboot and try it again with swap enabled. I'm not sure if I can use this, because I would have to delete all my web pages and images. It's been about 15 minutes, and after the memory warning, and closing the program with it's [X] in the corner, it's still reading my hard drive. I just got another memory warning, I hate to pull the battery, because it's still thrashing my hard drive. It finally stopped, but my memory bar [RED] is completely full. I'm rebooting now. I tried to compile it but failed . Using tmake I got the Makefile. But make stopped because of missing qpeapplication.h. Any other good alternatives?

I've already tried xzgv, gqview, gthumb but feh was the most capable/fastest pdaX image viewer I've tried. The best Zaurus image viewer I've tried is photostorage for cacko/sharp rom. I don't suppose this is open source though is it? photostorage opened all my image files, including ones feh failed to. Is there any way to get photostorage running under pdaX? |
