 The openbsdfullinstall.tar.gz includes all the files needed to perform a full microdrive installation of OpenBSD on a Zaurus SL-C3X00. A detailed installation guide is included along with various other files which can be used to enhance the standard installation. The tar.gz can be downloaded from the following locations: These files were last updated on Sep-09-2007 (Added additional installation guide) openbsdfullinstall.tar.gz openbsdfullinstall.tar.gz <mirror> If you have any issues with the installation process/files please let me know. |

Is OpenBSD still being booted off a SharpROM/Cacko install? Can it be booted off altboot and kexec which is available in OZ? I am thinking of setting up a multi-boot environment using altboot + kexec as the boot loader to boot multiple Zaurus distros.

I have been able to boot/dual-boot OpenBSD using cacko, but the standard install of OpenBSD uses a slimmed down initrd developed for OpenZaurus 3.5.3.

Dual booting Openbsd and Openzaurus should be pretty stright forward; however, due to newer versions of Openzaurus being installed onto the internal microdrive it might be pretty tricky. I would begin by looking at the slimmed down startup scripts in the standard openbsd-openzaurus-boot-loader-install and then modify the full-openzaurus-install startup scripts accordingly. This will involve editing the full-openzaurus-install startup scripts with an option asking which OS you want to boot and then mounting the appropriate OS partition. This is in regards to the person who was unable to install OpenBSD on their SL-C3100 using the installation files provided above:
The problem has been corrected. ( I hope...  ) Re-download the installation files and let me know if you are still having issues.

CODE --- Zaurus CF updater --- MODEL:SL-C3100 ERROR:Invalid model! Please reset I tried the files in the SL-C3100 directory and also the SL-C3200 directory, in case they were misnamed. Is anyone else having this problem? I've checked that I'm following directions. I restored my NAND a few days ago, but I can't see how that would affect it. |

Just wonder if this thread should be pinned because the full installation tarball is constantly updated. New comers may not know its existence when the thread sinks deep down.

The original install started out fine, but when it was loading the base bsd package it started complaining about invalid headers at 87%, it continued with the same errors until 100% and then it started with the next package from my SD card. All the packages started out fine, but once each one got to 87% they would all complain about invalid headers. The install eventually failed. I interrupted the install process and closed the lid by accident. Now when I turn the c3200 on, it runs the bootloader and then hangs because there is no BSD installed. How do I start the install again? The c3200 does not seem to see the SF or CF cards at this point. Since the BSD bootloader was installed I can't boot and tell it to load from the Cf or SD cards. Did the BSD bootloader overwrite the memory? Am I the proud owner of a brick, or can I recover from this? I'd really like to load BSD on this thing, but the invalid header errors during the install attempt are causing the install to fail. Any ideas I can try to restore the flash memory and try again, or start the install again from the bootloader? Thanks |
