The server seems to be responding a bit slowly right now, probably because everyone is downloading the new release?
Why not use BitTorrent for the big files (release images, feed.tar.gz, pdaX86, etc) and just use http for the feeds? It will make everyone download faster, save you guys $$$, and it provides automatic mirroring in case the server fails again. Think about it. |

We can put ISO files, and TAR.GZ full feeds in torrents....

For the firewalled users, that's what mirrors are for. If the pdaX devs can save some money on hosting costs, it benefits everyone. |

I really can't see how using BitTorrent would work. Maybe it's because I've never had any good experience using it. Even for "popular" stuff like Debian and Mandrake, using BitTorrent often results in transfer rates of a few KB/sec -- if I'm lucky, more often I get less than 1KB/sec! Contrast it with the upto 200-300KB/sec that I can get using their official mirrors I know what I would rather use.
Might be a better idea to use something like http://rapidshare.de/. I've always got transfer rates of at least 10KB/sec, usually around 30-50KB/sec, and sometimes several hundred KB/sec (probably when my ISP has it cached). -- cheers |

I only use bittorrent when there's no other option or I'm feeling very patient, as for large files it's often an overnight operation. On the other hand, it never hurts to have multiple methods of distribution! |
