Anyone have a source for a replacement battery for the 3100 that has a good price? I will be depending on my Zaurus for some months as my sole access, and want to be sure I have a good battery. But US $90+ is a bit steep.
Obviously I want something that will not fry the beast as well. |

Thanks! Those look like good deals (and have good mAh ratings).
Maybe we should pin a thread on places to get batteries? |

I've bought mine from BraunOni'a BatteryUpgrade.com. Three already, no problems. Wos, that's more like it. Thanks. Their prices were about 1/3 what some other sites were asking. I hope it works... |

The good news is that the battery arrived fairly quickly. The bad news is that it does not seem to work! I put it in, close the cover, plug in the charger, and the yellow light blinks and blinks. This is the same signal it gives when there is not battery at all. Can it be that it only needs charging? The contacts on the battery seem to be a bit more deeply recessed than the original, could that mean that contact is not being made? Anyone? I will try leaving it to charge overnight, with the O/S shut down, in hopes of bringing it back to life. |

I contacted the seller about this, and they replyed that they will contact the manufacturer, but apparently nothing has happened. There was already a discussion about this matter here, but can't find it now. Anyway you have to carve some plastics around the battery contacts, they are a bit two deep. After that you perhaps have to tape a folded paper piece or something to the bottom of the battery, so that it will sit in tightly. Sorry that I forgot to mention that, but after doing those measures by batteries have worked flawlessy. I have not oppened my battery cover for a long time, so didn't remember that. |

I tried the foil route with my 3rd-party batteries and didn't have much luck, even though I could get the charging light to stay on. Using a hobby knife/scalpel to cut away the thin plastic strip between the bottom edge of each terminal and the case seam did wonders to get the battery working, and it only took 30 seconds
The problem isn't really that the contacts are too deep, but that plastic strip presses against the spring contacts and keeps them from reaching the terminals. |
