Like many others, got a SL-5500 on ebay. Unit seems to work fine except for syncing w/Windows XP.
Unit has 3.10 ROM and I've installed Qtopia Desktop 1.5 on my computer. I can ping the Zaurus. Any help would be appreciated as well as recommendations re: proper versions of ROM and Qtopia. Thanks... |

Thanks... if you have sharp rom, After the installation of the drivers and softwares to the pc, 1: Click and open zaurus manager, select USB TCP/IP advanced from connection, write 192.168.129.201 to the host ip, 2: Go to the Z , click PC-Link under the settings and select same setting write 192.168.129.201 to the ip, 255.255.255.0 subnet mask, 192.168.129.200 gateway, enter the dns number of your internet connection. (if you have oz, use network settings for pc-link.) 3: Go to the control panel / network connections on xp, double click to your Z connection (SL Series) Properties / TCP/IP , write ip address: 192.168.129.200 , subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 4: Then open the qtopia desktop (i recommend 2.1.2) File/Settings/General , select usb and enter 192.168.129.201 to the ip, reboot both pc and z. |

When trying USB TCP/IP in zaurus manager, I get "ensure zaurus and docking station are connected to your pc"
on the zaurus under pc-link, I only have hostname and usb ip address as well as connection dropdown (usb-i/o, usb-tcp/ip, serial). Do not have subnet or gateway settings. I can still ping the zaurus as you can see below: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. H:\>ping 192.168.129.201 Pinging 192.168.129.201 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.129.201: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.129.201: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.129.201: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=255 Reply from 192.168.129.201: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=255 Ping statistics for 192.168.129.201: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 15ms, Maximum = 17ms, Average = 15ms |

QUOTE When trying USB TCP/IP in zaurus manager, I get "ensure zaurus and docking station are connected to your pc" I could never connect using USB TCP/IP (though the connection was fine). Try the other USB method and see if that works. Si |
