Is it at all possible? Does soud work on current OZ for clamshells? Is there any VoIP app proven to work on OZ (preferably GPE or CLI)?

Is hard or could a small donation turn my Z into a phone?

could you try "linphone"

I think in theory opie supports kp/pi which is another SIP phone

I'd love to. First I'd like to make sure, sound works at all. (The record/play applications don't work for me.) Do I need additional packages not found in a standard OZ flash image.

or tapioca, that's in OE, so it would be easy enough to build it.

[edited] The GPE GUI from linphone-hh package (OZ3.5.4.1) seems to work.

[edited] However, I still haven't manage to record anything via my headset (in headphone jack), neither with arecord nor with the "Record memo" app, independent of alsamixer settings.

When I plug standard headphones, alsa switches the speakers off and Jack to headphones; left/right will play music (via aplay). If I change "Jack" to "Headset" still both left and right will play music. I think this is not the desired behaviour as one of the channels should work as Mic. With the headset plugged, I can listen to music (mono, one earphone), but -- as I said above, I can't use the mic.

Can someone confirm headsets (mono headphone + mono mic) work under OZ on C860?

...works on a 3200 under 3.5.4.1

kppi works well under opie...I've used it fairly regularly at home....my modded belkin/nokia headset does suffer a bit from echo though, which is a bit too disconcerting for some people.

It'd be nice to have an app working for gpe, for sure, as I d switch between the two...kppi is integrated nicely with kapi though, so I tap on a phone number in my addressbook & up pops kppi.

...if somone wants to get a working build for kapi/kopi/kppi for gpe, that would be soooo useful smile.gif
