A couple follow-up questions to my previous post about whether CardFS is required. . .
First, if I use CardFS, can I install/uninstall the applications within normally? Secondly, if I remove the SD card, will it bork? |

Yes you can uninstall and install normally. And yanking the card out will crash the whole thing. If you umount /dev/mmcda1 all your cardfs apps will disappear and leave you with a konsole and filemanager only. Remounting the card brings them back.

OK, I've flashed the ROM (with CardFS), and I'm liking it. There is a little wonkiness when removing and inserting the SD card (for example, although all the apps [dis|re]appear like they're supposed to, I get two tabs each for PIM and Games (of which, one is blank). But otherwise, it's not that big a bother for me to leave the card in--I can always SCP the files I need out and back.
So. . . my question for now is. . . to install apps to CardFS, do I only need to do a "-d sd" as usual? Is this not going to install to /opt/QtPalmtop/, etc.., like in the stock OZ ROM? I noticed that the files are in /mnt/card/bin, as opposed to mnt/card/opt/QtPalmtop/bin. Thanks for your help. . . |

QUOTE(acpkendo @ Jan 26 2005, 06:18 PM) So. . . my question for now is. . . to install apps to CardFS, do I only need to do a "-d sd" as usual? Yes, then do ipkg-link add 'whatever' or ipkg-link mount /mnt/card If you restart Opie it should fix your tabs... but I'm not positive because I don't remove my SD-card. Greg |
