they really need to give some folks admin privileges who actually visit the forum once in a while.

If an admin reads this would he/she please see if something could be done about 1: restoring the ZUG main page to normality? 2: restoring the download file and facility? Including the Cacko links! 3: restoring the feed? 4: restoring zaurusthemes? In regard to 2: the ELSIX software section is affected by the absence of the files for download. It would also be helpful if some announcements could be made about these issues. I know that ibiblio had serious hardware problems. I also know, from my use of GROKLAW that those issues were solved after a couple of days. The download issue has been a problem since the beginning of January. If it has been decided not to restore that facility would it be possible to offer the files for hosting elsewhere. Several people have mirrored some of the offerings and they and others are undoubtedly willing to mirror the other files. Please respond in the news section, assuming the ZUG main page is restored. |

Sorry to keep talking to myself:- But I just got a pm from another ZUG member. He asked me where to get the TKCRom alpha files and the home on sd script.
The obvious answer is the ZUG downloads. That is where I got my copies after all. The ELSIX and ZSI both refer you to the ZUG downloads for the files. I don't know where else these files are? Does anybody? I attempted to attach the script file to the pm. It wouldn't let me. I understand that the attachment facility to posts is not working properly, if at all, so I probably can't upload the requested files. I have sent my email address to the member who asked for help and I'll try to sort something out for him. I did pm an admin about these issues: as yet no reply..... |

attachments strictly controlled by the forum software, so it's best to zip up the files and attach the zip. hope that works for you.
I asked about adding more admins and not just moderators, got an acknowledgement from another admin but not OffRoadGeek who would have to make the decision; however, I was told that our plaintiff cries are heard but that action wasn't possible (at least not for now) |

since yesterday, I have been able to attach the following filetypes with no problem.
*.png *.gz and *.ipk clicking on file links and attached pics still results in a page of code. I use firefox 2.0.02 and this is how I have been downloading attachments lately. attached pics, right click, save as. and guess if it's a jpg, png or bmp attached files, I just copy the filename to the clipboard, then right click, save as, and paste filename into the save dialog. |

Yes, this has been reported in numerous threads. Meanie pointed out it is a server configuration problem with mime types. At least one admin (ISO) has noted the problem. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

This site is still 'broken'. There are still problems with attachments in the posts. The ZUG feed and the downloads are still missing in action. Some one has resurrected the zaurus themes on another site. I remembered a link to the tkcrom alpha files and posted it in the 5500 discussion. The Cacko files are now reliably hosted elsewhere. The Cacko mol feed appears to be in a working state. not so the cacko.biz one. I have had no response to my post from any admin person. (Yes I did try a pm...) Mind you, they do seem to be finding the problems rather difficult to deal with. Meanie has given them some good leads on the attachments front. So what happened with that? I still think that asking for volunteers to help with the problems would be worthwhile. I also think that it should not be too difficult to make some arrangements for hosting the downloads elsewhere and also the feed. Is it not a pity that the response to the problems seems so passive? Perhaps I would feel less irritated and frustrated if someone took the 5 minutes a week to update us on the situation with the site problems? Hoping for some improvements, if only in keeping us updated! How about a 'new' sticky thread in some prominent position? |
