Now that a year has passed since OESF has been put back online, I thought it would be interesting to post some stats regarding the past year. These numbers are of the period from the 28th September 2016 to today, except for the stats regarding the members, which go up to 8th October in order to exclude the spambots.

New members: 16
No. of members that have logged in: 63
New topics opened: 144
No. of posts: 882

Days with the highest number of posts:
September 29th 2016 (20) (OESF has just been put online)
November 10th 2016 (19)
November 11th 2016 (16)

Days with the highest number of new topics:
March 21st 2017 (4)
October 1st 2016 (3)
October 27th 2016 (3)
January 9th 2017 (3)
January 11th 2017 (3)
February 28th 2017 (3)
July 8th 2017 (3)
August 3rd 2017 (3)
August 11th 2017 (3)
October 16th 2017 (3)

I'd like to thank everyone for contributing to the forum; we are clearly not at the 2004-2006 levels, but still there's a growing trend compared to the previous years, as you can see below:

No. of posts (from 28th September to 27th September next year)
2016-17: 882
2015-16: 633
2014-15: 58
2013-14: 128
2012-13: 65
2011-12: 131

By the way, the database returns that there have been roughly 5200 posts in these two ranges of dates, while there were 1 or 2 posts daily in the months before and after them:

11th-22th November 2014
6th-13th December 2014

These are clearly spam messages, but I'm unable to locate them. This number should not include the deleted posts, and I have done the recount of the number of posts, but they are still reported. If anyone manages to find them, please let me know.

Seller asks 25 CHF (~21 EUR / 25 USD), a bargain for a working Microdrive-based Zaurus!

I have recently received a positive feedback from ibiblio about some software upgrades on the server I requested, including a PHP version 5 -> 7 upgrade, required by the newer MediaWiki and forum packages. I don't know when this upgrade will be performed; I just wanted to warn you that, once it will be completed, the forum might be affected by it, i.e. some services might not work anymore, or in the worst case the entire forum might stop running. This might happen since we are using a quite old forum software, which might not run well on newer PHP versions; we already had some issues in the past when switching from PHP 4 to 5. I'm anyway still checking the various upgrade paths, so that (hopefully soon) the won't have any problem with the newer PHP. I'll keep you informed.

Thanks to a notification from a new member, I have discovered that no-one except admins could download attachments from the Archived sections, due to a wrong setting. I have now fixed this. Thanks Raphman!

Emanuele Feronato has released an HTML5 port of zNumbers, a Zaurus game originally developed by Karl Bartel. The port has been developed using Phaser, a free open source HTML5 game framework.

"You play in a 6◊6 grid, filled with numbers from 1 to 4. Every tile with a number can be moved horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The number on the block indicates how far the block must be moved. Other blocks between the start and destination donít prevent a movement, but the destination field must be free. All possible destinations are highlighted when you select a block."
