Also, there are some game ROMs that just won't work, but most do.

That was my lighthearted attempt at suggesting that you cut down the size of your sig. Your sig is probably several times larger than the average post. 4-6 lines is plenty unless you are providing some useful links, etc.

Cresho, have you found an emulator that works with your package that plays Sega Master system games?
I would love to complete my Phantasy Star series with the Original Phantasy Star 1. This only plays on the Master System. EDIT: I got this ROM, it's named "Phantasy Star.sms" Note the *.sms extension. (Sega Master System). I tried renaming it to "phantasystar.smd", but that didn't work. EDIT2: The filebrowser in zemu won't recognize this game unless I rename the extension to *.smd I tried to launch it in the zemu, the screen went into magnified view and went sideways for a moment (just like a lot of other games). Then it went back to the filebrowser in zemu. I'm not really sure if a Master system game will work in this emu. I'll have to do some research on this. BTW. This is the only "Master System" game that I have tried, as it's the only one I'm interested in at the moment. At home, I have a device that plugs into the top slot of my Genesis console that allows Master System cartridges to be played. Thank you, Jon

I found a Sega Master system emu file here. (Japanese site)
http://www.piro.hopto.org/~piro/pukiwiki/p...%DF%A5%E5%5D%5D under this link (sms_sdl SMS+SDLv0.9.4aR7.1) is this file: sms_sdl.gz It's just below the dgen dgen1.20a file. There are also 2 pages linked in the same line. One takes me to (http://ehe.s57.xrea.com/index.php) which is just a blank white page. The other takes me to a page with the source of SMS Plus/SDL http://membres.lycos.fr/cyxdown/smssdl/ sms_sdl-0.9.4a-r7.1-src.zip Looking at these files, I'm not sure if they need to be compiled or added with some other files and then compiled. I was just going to try to copy the file structure of the dgen, and place the sms_sdl file in the same place, (as in the file structure as degen) but am unsure if this would work. Seems the dgen IPK places some libraries in the filesystem, and I don't want to mess up my libraries, since all my games work fine in the emu as it is in it's current state. Is there an IPK of the Sega Master system, that works with this emu, floating around on the net somewhere? EDIT: I found a filename for SMS in IPK format, (zsmssdl_0.9.4aR7.1-1_arm.ipk) but cannot seem to be able to locate the actual file. This post has been edited by Jon_J: Feb 21 2007, 08:46 PM |

hmm.. it works. i just use the command lines
in any case, ill read into it and see if if i can add a few things to it and make it work a little nicer. In a different note, i noticed after using my wifi or bluetooth, when i try and use the zemu, my handheld reboots itself and locks up. It pisses me off! anyway, from now on, i reboot the whole system before I play with the games. Any work around you seen might work for this? I'll try commandline and see if it works.
I don't use bluetooth. It seems to suck up resources, and I really haven't had a real need for it. I haven't tried wifi yet, as I don't have a router or access point yet. I'll probably set this up later. EDIT: Back to Phantasy Star (original first release) There was a trick in the first town at the shop, that had me baffled for about 2 months. There was no internet back in 1987, (for me at least). I ended up calling a hotline, which cost about 5-10 dollars just to get my answer. BTW, I purchased Phantasy Star for the Master System at Toys R Us for about $70.00 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantasy_Star It was the most cutting edge RPG type game of that time on a console. okay, found your answer to your problem.
check your message and ill post an update later on. I also found a xmame SDL which i want to check out as well. It says it will not work with gngeo installed at the same time. Since im short on time and my finals are coming up, it will be a slow snail update. The sega master system does work with the zemu ex. It just needs an sh update which ill include later on in the zip file i have available. Ill work on the update soon. This post has been edited by Cresho: Feb 21 2007, 11:07 PM |
