Request For Symlinks (symbolic Link Maint Utility) Options

Has anyone compiled symlinks (symbolic link maintenance utility), as in:

for the Zaurus? Given that the Sharp ROM image is hideous mess of symbolic links, and that it only gets worse if you move $HOME or applications to external memory, and worse still if you install ipkgs to external memory and then symlink them back to the internal filesystem, this could be a very useful utility.

They have now.

It is posted HERE on my site, installed on my C860 and works.

The size should be 165047 bytes. If it does not install or is reported as invalid format, check the downloaded size you have.
See my other posts re browsers which pad out downloads and corrupt .ipks
(Firefox and Mozilla do this, Konqueror appears not to)

I now use Flashget in my windowz machine exclusively to download IPKs from this forum.
It downloads files without corrupting them.

Interesting...It downloaded fine for me, and I've never seen Firefox or Mozilla (or any other browser) under Linux pad downloads and corrupt an ipk or any other file.

The only note I've got is that the file was automatically uncompressed by Firefox....the resulting file (with the name unchanged) is a valid tar file, but is not recognized by ipkg, which expects a gzip-compressed tar archive. This isn't file corruption, but it may be an unexpected side-effect from some browsers (depending on their configuration).

You are right, the size of the package downloaded by Firefox is the un-zipped tar size.

If I edit the mime-types for Firefox to recognise .ipk as a .tar.gz file all should be rosy.

Just one problem, where does Firefox hide its mime types? The file in my $HOME directory only has one entry.

Type about:config into the address area.
This brings up the configurations. I don't see mimetypes in there.
I'm using the windows version, but about:config works on most versions.
Opps, almost forgot. Close and re-open Firefox to save any changes.

about:config works but does not display mime types on my Firefox either

I downloaded the mime type editor extension from http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=179
but this does not show any existing mime types, even after you input one!

I am using Firefox 1.0.7 from the Ubuntu 5.10 build

Any other ideas?

I may just use Konqueror or ftp for downloads of .ipks now I know why the problem occurs.
